Increase the size of your grill! January 19, 2005 D. Baer (Mesa, AZ USA) 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
While I admit that I haven't used the rotisserie as much as I would have thought, the expansion ring for the kettle is a huge plus. I've cooked 4 beer-can-style chickens simultaneously in my newly-expanded grill. It also allows you to use your grill more as a smoker by giving you more room to work -- you can put another grate on a pair of bricks and make room for a water pan, drip pan, etc.
How to cook the perfect turkey December 3, 2002 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I cannot recommend this product more highly. So simple to use - just rest the cylinder on the lower kettle, plug in the motor, slide in the spit, press the button and walk away. An hour or so later, take out a perfectly browned chicken that is literally dripping in its own juices. I used the rotisserie this Thanksgiving to cook a turkey and added hickory chips for a smokey flavor. All our guests said that they have never had a turkey that was so moist or tasted anything like it. For the only time in my life, I ate turkey without any gravy. The simple concept, of course, is that the bird constantly rotates and thus bastes itself in its own juices. And cleanup consists of scrubbing down the spit and tossing the drip pan - no nessy grill or oven pans! If you have a 22-1/2" Weber, consider the rotisserie a mandatory accessory!
Buy this today! June 20, 2003 tracer821 (PHX) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I concur with all the other reviews-this thing is da bomb!! Try pork roast on there-it is to die for. The rotisserie has never let me down, whether I'm cooking chicken, pork, prime rib, roast beef, lamb-you name it. Now mine is about 3 years old and the skewer does get a bit charred especially if you use smoke often. You need to SOS it and then you are good. You'll never buy one of those black plastic trayed chickens at the grocery store again! Superior to ANY restaurant!Tracy
Try it for a Turkey. October 6, 2004 Joe Schmoe 15 out of 25 found this review helpful
I've never given a Weber product less than 5 stars before. Now I've only used the rotisserie once for a chicken, but believe it or not, the whole chickens that I've made on the grate using the indirect cooking method were comparable. I originally bought it for Turkeys that I've yet to try, but after the chicken that I tried, I'm not as enthusiastic as I was before. UPDATE 11/23/06 Thanksgiving. Finally got around to doing the turkey. I'd raise my rating to a 4 now, although Amazon won't let me change it. I have (believe it or not) cooked a Turkey on the Weber without the Rotisserie and now I have also cooked a Turkey on the Weber with the Rotisserie. Here are my observations You can't lose either way. However, the Turkey was more evenly cooked with the Rotisserie and was done cooking faster. If I have to choose one or the other, the Turkey done on the rotisserie wins for taste and for faster cooking. The only downside is the cleanup, but not too bad.
Mmmmmm, Rotisserie! March 19, 2005 Makabe 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Meat tastes better on a stick--a really big stick in this case. I've done 2 chickens at a time, 16 pound turkeys, legs o' lamb, you name it, it will come out great on this rotisserie attachment. Couldn't be easier to set up and use. Clean up? If you want it to look pristine, you'll have to spend time getting at the nooks and crannies but WHY BOTHER? Give it a light cleanup with a sponge and soap and you're good to go for the next meat-on-a-stick fest. You know you want it--buy it--it's a great deal and has free shipping!
