Makes Your Mouth Feel Strange For The First Few Uses November 22, 2006 B. Merritt (WWW.FILMREVIEWSTEW.COM, Pacific Grove, California United States) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
Replacement heads ARE expensive, but compared to dental visits and cavity repairs they're a drop in the proverbial bucket. The first few times you use an electric brush with these heads your mouth will likely feel as if it's all a-buzz. Don't panic and don't give up. Keep using the brush and it'll pass in few short days. My dentist praises my teeth now that I've been using this system for several years. My gums and teeth are cleaner, brighter, and cavity-free.
Sonicare Buy 2 Get 1 Free Brush Head Offer March 13, 2004 S. J. Mar (Honolulu, HI USA) 10 out of 32 found this review helpful
Beware of Sonicare's Buy 2 Get 1 Free Brush Head Offer. I bought 2 Sonicare brush heads and sent the original UPC symbol to Sonicare. They sent me a postcard stating that it did not receive the original UPC symbol or proof-of-purchase tab.Although the Sonicare brush is okay, I definitely would not buy another Sonicare product again based on the company's incorrect handling of its promotion offer!
Good battery but poor quality toothbrush heads December 31, 2004 Beth B. Davis 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have owned the Elite Pro for 1 year and the instructions recommended changing toothbrush heads once every six months. I am now going on my 5th toothbrush head because 2 of the 4 were broken within 2 weeks of use. Basically, I noticed they just were not vibrating like when they were new. The same problem occurred on 2 of the heads. One of the metal strips responsible for producing the vibration broke loose and basically reduced its vibrating power by 50%. It is just poor quality control when the toothbrush has more power than the toothbrush head can handle. On the upside, it works great when it works, and the battery lasts 2 weeks using it twice a day, so no need to pack the relatively small recharger on vacation.
brush replacement August 3, 2006 Jim (NY USA) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I love the Sonicare toothbrush system but I go through brushes fast. I can use a brush for only about 2-3 months before replacement is needed. My wish is they would offer a more durable brush.
Small and expensive heads June 10, 2005 Neil (Too close to the freeking I-95 corridor) 6 out of 18 found this review helpful
Dear Amazonians, The brush-head that came with my toothbrush is starting to get frazzled, and it's time to start looking for new heads. (My father always said he wanted to see me get a head...) I'm completely unhappy about having to spend $10 per head. I don't believe I'll be getting what I pay for, because: The heads are small. I've never chosen a "compact head," but that's all that's available for the Sonicare. The bristles are a combination of soft, extra-soft, and uselessly-soft bristles. I assume that extra-soft bristles have a shorter lifetime than normally-soft bristles, which aggravates the megaprice problem. Maybe the first couple of days using the Sonicare delivers an overwhelming experience (not really) that's best overcome with extra-soft bristles, but at this point, I would be happy to have a head full of normally-soft bristles. Unfortunately, dissatisfyingly extra-soft bristles are all that's available for the Sonicare. The fat bottom of the head disallows putting the Sonicare far enough into my mouth to brush the back of my tongue, so I wind up having to keep a real toothbrush around, anyway. Even if I could fit the head back there, it would be too small for the job, due to my big tongue. Pardon my tangent. Because the Sonicare is so effective, neither the head's softness nor smallness is much of a drawback. By leaving the scrubbing motions to the device, I'm able to spend more attention to aiming accurately and evenly, to avoid overscrubbing, to avoid falling asleep from boredom, and it does a better job than I could. If I could do it all over, I would choose the Sonicare again over the old method, but I'm still sickened by the single-option of expensive, minimum-value and minimum-lifetime heads. (The real sticker-shock will happen when I have to throw away the Sonicare because the integrated Ni-Cad batteries cannot be replaced, but only mutilatingly removed for recycling.) I give the heads 2-out-of-5 Amazonian stars because although they work, they take undue advantage of the customer. Best luck, -Neil-
