The Only Workout I'll Swear By March 26, 1999 26 out of 27 found this review helpful
The 20 minute workout with Bess Motta is phenomenal!I have been doing the 20 minute workout since I was five years old, and sixteen years later this tape still challenges me and makes me sweat! This sounds cliche, but I have never found a workout (that was televised) that would give me the type of results in such a limited time. Forget the leg warmers and the big hair, if you are interested in getting fit this is the tape. Whether or not you are extremely over weight or a fitness enthusiast, the moves are designed so that you can do what you feel comfortable with. After gaining some weight (not using the video for a while), my friends immediately noticed after a summer of using the workout how many inches I had lost. Ron Harris has outdone himself by placing beautiful and inspiring women on a workout tape with explicit instructions and uptempo music for maximum results. *************************** DO NOT BUY ANYTHING ESLE!!! ***************************
Get IntoThe Best Shape of Your Life in 20 MInutes! November 6, 2005 C. Jack (midwest USA) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Buy and USE this tape once - and you'll know what the craze was all about. The 20 Minute Workout will motivate and energize you into the best shape of your life. You'll think about doing it when you're not doing it, and you'll DO this workout. And this workout will do wonders for you. Hey I USED TO get up at 5:20AM DAILY for the 5:30AM show - nothing else got me into that habit. And the shape I got in - well let's say that nothing else got me to 38-26-36. Boy do I long for THOSE measurements. That's why I'm buying another copy. If you have problems with motivation, just plug in ole Bess (yes, she's the one that got wacked on the first Terminator). The routines are EASY to learn, fun and they WORK. I was a student when this show came on and VCR's weren't around, so the closest I can get to the original series are these videos. Do yourself a favor, get one right away...and don't lend it out. It probably won't come back. Get ready to be in the best shape of your life...the 20 Minute Way.
Excellent for a daily workout! June 30, 1999 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
This video was produced 10 years ago and is the best daily workout of them all. Minimal time with maximum benefit is easily acheived by the beginner and the advanced. They need to re-release these tapes or tell me where I can find other copies.
Where is Bess Motta? I want to talk to her and Ron Harris. March 5, 2007 Tracy Edmonds (West Virginia and New York City) I actually have to wonder if they are both still alive. vI can't get to Bess Motta. Can anyone else? She is the best workout instructor, and actress, on earth. With a little marketing and NO CHANGE TO THE ROUTINES, a new 20 minute workout can make millions. I just want to buy one, speaking for my part, and my search has uncovered horrible retailers on this site who have sold me copies that cannot be played for upwards of $35. Okay, first of all, this is the only workout that makes sense if you have a career. You can do it, and it is addictive, effective and simple. The music is perfect. DO NOT change it, Ron. CHANGE NOTHING EXCEPT THE OUTFITS. Don't even change that soft-porn white background. Billy Blank has a 10 Minute workout that is very effective, but since I stole it from my library, I haven't seen it again. It is also extremely good. But the 20 minute workout gives you hope, and motivation, and for the people who peddle both, someone needs to deal with the fact that this needs to be remade,NOT CHANGED, but reinvented with modern outfits. And if ANYONE can sell me extended copies by different workout hosts, I will pay.
some things never go out of style June 12, 2008 Alex Grayson (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Big hair, leg-warmers, the original Reeboks and cheesy techno...great fun, no doubt but they all take a back seat to what I have to say is one of the most enjoyable and effective workouts I've ever done. To put this into perspective let me just say that I own a collection of exercise vids and DVDs that's frankly a little nutty; titles ranging from the old original Jane Fonda Workouts to Kathy Smith to Cathe Friedrich and everything in between (including Tae Bo, Pilates, Cindy Crawford...you name it, I have it). The 20 Minute Workout aired obscenely early when I was in high school so I taped it and did it every day after school. It was fun, energizing and over in a snap but it still gave me a fabulous figure- I went from a chubby self conscious teen to a mini goddess, thank you very much! Here it is, all these years later and after starting to do them again last night I have to say it's still a blast, it's still challenging but do-able and I still had a good sweat going. Nowadays I've seen and heard about the latest celeb training/diet "miracle" and it amounts to eating healthfully and exercising 5 days a week for 20-25 minutes per day. No revelations there. Doing this 20 minute workout 5 days per week gave me incredible results and I felt it kicking in last night. It was virtually impossible to find for a long time but I recently bought the original single episode VHS on eBay and also found/bought a DVD with 8 episodes on 2 DVDs. I will be one happy girl when that DVD hits my doorstep and tonight I'll be working with Bess and the ladies, having a blast and getting my goddess bod back! If you can find it, and you love this kind of workout, grab it with both hands and never let it go!
