5 out of 5 stars Great spirtual film from "Facing the Giants" creator   November 7, 2007

For those who enjoyed "Facing the Giants," this is an earlier production made by the same Georgia church on a shoestring budget -- but still well done. This is the moving (and sometimes funny) story of a cheating, morally bankrupt car dealer who is behind on his bills. A spiritual experience leads him to re-evaluate his dealings in surprisingly different ways. Like "Giants," this film is better than you would expect considering the budget and is proof you don't need millions to entertain or move people. Film was run at Georgia area movie theater and shocked the church with the attendance, which prompted longer and wider play in the theater's chain. Obviously, success of "Giants" appears to be prompting a national release of this film by Sony, but that's a good move. I was looking for an older DVD, but I'll wait for the new release.

5 out of 5 stars Great Movie!   November 20, 2007

Flywheel is one of the earlier movies from the folks who did "Against The Giants". Although it obviously has a little less of the "big picture polish" that Giants had (something that Alex Kendrick admits at the start of the movie), the Christ-centered message is just as strong. Many of the same actors star in this movie as well - including the actress who plays the wife in Giants in a short background cameo at the end of the movie. Not being a salesman, I can only imagine the pressures that are placed on these people to wring every last cent out of a customer - a hard field for a Christian to shine in. I especially enjoyed the end of the movie where the lead actor is unable to defend himself against the accusations of a former employee and God orchestrates it such that several people arrive to do his talking for him. Great movie!

5 out of 5 stars Great story   May 4, 2008

A couple things jumped out at me as I watched this movie late one night. One was the Biblical admonition to step out in faith and the second was the Biblical verse that the Lord works all things for good to those who love him.

Unlike so many low budget religious theme movies, this movie is actually well made. And here in 2008 when so many people are dealing with losing homes, jobs, higher fuel and food prices, its a great movie to remind those who profess a faith in the Lord, to be reminded that he wont let us down. That he will make sure that our enemies are shown to be who they really are.

Like the Bible verse about no weapon formed against us can prosper. Its an honest, storyline about admitting we are wrong and asking the Lord to be #1 in our lives. Easier said than done, sometimes, when one fears that things will only get worse.

And I loved the strong family, ethical, moral theme. This was a man about to lose his business, had a pregnant wife at home, and a former worker who didnt like his change of heart decision to turn the business over to the Lord.

Then imagine how you would handle making right, bad choices, you had made earlier, which involved thousands of dollars.

This film should be seen by all - often. Like "Facing the Giants", it is a look at how we often attempt to plan and direct our own lives but, as is written in the book of Jeremiah:"O Lord, I know it is not within the power of man to map his life and plan his course-- so you correct me, Lord; but please be gentle. Don't do it in your anger, for I would die. Jer 10:23-24 (TLB). Enjoy...

As a real estate agent, I viewed this movie at the request of my husband who found it inspirational. As we all know, the real estate market is dropping more and more each day, but as I viewed the film, I realized that I am not going through this alone. As the main character turned to the bible for answers, I also did the same thing. And I believed. My phone began to ring and I started taking out buyers who were not concerned about the prices of homes. I started writing offers again. I love this film and I no longer go through my life's journey alone. This film will make you laugh, cry, think and believe. Do not pass this film over, like I almost did. Watch it and implement the messages it delivers and your world will become a more positive and tranquil place to live.
