Doctor Who and the first Download September 19, 2006 jingles_sunderland (Morrisville, NC United States) 23 out of 30 found this review helpful
Doctor who materialised without his Tardis on this, my first timelord download in the amazon unbox, which is much larger on the inside than it appears on the outside. For a very reasonable sum, $1.99, my family and I were able to enjoy the first Third doctor adventure after his regeneration, where he encounters the Nestene Conciousness. The down load took only a few minutes although I had some considerable difficulty installing the microsoft program. thanks to the good people at amazon tech support I was able to obtain an alternative download from the gates empire itself which allowed me to enjoy our rental. a great experience and will not be the last. easy to navigate and fun for all the family. someone should tell the timelords on gallifrey about unbox and perhaps they could get rid of all the old type 40 tardis'.
Warning.... November 18, 2007 Frank P 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Good shows, but BE WARNED... While Amazon says you are buying these titles, you are ONLY RENTING THEM for 30 days! I also wrote to Amazon who said "It is clearly stated on the page that this is a rental"... I came back to check, and I do NOT see that. Also, if you want to see the The Caves of Androzani (Season 21) buy the DVD, there is at least 1 more episode... if you RENT these three you will not see the Finale! (I checked Season 22 and it does not list episode 20). That reduced my review from 5 stars.. because you don't see the end! Lastly, be aware that on Vista PCs, Unbox is a very intrusive program, always re-installing!
Beware - Parts of many episodes are missing March 5, 2008 C. W. Johnson (Austin, TX USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Beware: Quite a few of the small number of Doctor Who episodes available for rental here are missing parts, which makes for a terrible experience as a viewer (and a distinct sense of having been cheated as a customer). In season 6, "The Seeds of Death" is missing parts 4 and 5. In season 12, "The Ark in Space" is missing part 1. In season 14, "The Talons of Weng-Chiang" is missing part 3. In season 21, "The Caves of Androzani" is missing part 4 (its final part, so it is especially easy to rent this one without realizing it is incomplete). In season 22, "Vengeance on Varos" is missing part 2. So, of 22 available episodes, Amazon has omitted parts from 5 of them, rendering 22% of the episodes here useless. (Unless, of course, you happen to like paying money for incomplete episodes, in which case you'll love this quirky little collection that Amazon has put together for you.)
