Wonderful program, lively, witty and a good storyline as well.I loved that opener and the that proposal in the tv section of the dept store.I loved its technical supierority, with these new cameras(they record better than I see) it takes a consciencious lighting man to get things so well balanced for easy viewing.Tha work was good.Bravo.
Funny? A few minutes? Annoying... all the rest October 8, 2008 Edward Pogi (Somewhere Out There) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
"Kath and Kim" is your basic story about a full grown up and married daughter who just can't get away from his mother even if you get the CIA or Secret Service to torture this super-glue daughter. Molly Shannon takes on the role of "Kath", a foxy, 40-something mom (divorcee), that some would say is a "MILF" (pardon the term) and Selma Blair stars as "Kim", a mid-20's something married girl with the mentality of an 8 year old who. That's right, the mentality of an 8 year old. That is the premise of the show... ... as "Kim" goes back to her mom as she despises heating the food in the microwave, hates pets, and likes to have a constant barrage of food in her mouth from lollipop to whatever she can get her hands on. Yet you wonder why with her calorie attacks, she never grows fat. That's Holywood for you. As stated earlier, she goes back to her mom and wants to divorce her husband since her husband begged her to microwave their food. The "8 year old girl" was said to hate doing any chores and prefers to be Princess Grace Kelly minus the elegance, sophistication and flair (you call that still a "princess"??), hence her desire to file for divorce. She goes to great lengths to annoy her mom by sublty sabotaging her mom's date with her boyfriend and the rest is "repeat and rinse" scenario. If you like watching (tortuting yourself) married mid-20's girls who have the IQ of an 8 year old and who goes on tantrums if needed then go ahead and waste some 20+ minutes of your life although watching and completing Shaquille O'Neal's "Kazaam" would have been a 1% better alternative. Else, playing "Solitaire" for 20 mins provide better entertainment than "Crap and Dim", I mean "Kath and Kim".
Wanted to love this show! October 10, 2008 Nicole Kravanis (Mission Viejo, CA USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
BUT I didn't. I saw the previews and really thought this could be one of the funniest new shows of the season. I love Molly Shannon and have always enjoyed her work but this just didn't do it for me. I was really disappointed. It was barely funny and Selma Blair spends most of the pilot scowling and making faces to show her disgust for just about everything around her. I know her spoiled brat character is supposed to be funny but I just found her really annoying. I'll have to watch another episode or two to see if it improves but if it's more of this, that will be one less new show I have to watch.
My New Favorite Show !! November 21, 2008 D. Russick (Delran, NJ United States) It's absolutely hysterical, nothing like it on TV. The best new comedy on TV. I'll be heartbroken if they cancel the show.
