Amazon.com Product Description The 2x4 Basics workbench assembles to any size and fits anywhere. Shops and garages come in all shapes and sizes, and as a consequence, standard prefabricated workbenches are often too big or too small. This workbench customizes to fit any space. Featuring a comfortable 36-inch-high work surface and large under-bench storage shelves, the workbench is super easy to assemble--you just add any length lumber you want. Better yet, all you do is make simple straight cuts--no miters, no angles. The result is a customized, rugged workbench that's capable of holding up to 1,000 pounds per shelf. And because it's so versatile, you can also use it as a hobby table, power-tool stand--you name it.

Great Workbench! December 28, 2008 Disenchanted (Tennessee) I am a 53 year old woman that enjoys working on small wood projects. Thought it would be good to have a real workbench. I had researched and found several plans to build one from scratch. Then came across this one on Amazon. It looked simple enough to put together and the reviews were good. My concern was the stability of the workbench. I assembled the workbench by myself with no problems at all. It was much easier than I imagined. The workbench is very stronge, sturdy and looks great. I am very happy with it. After assembling the first one, I ordered another one as I needed a cutting table for my sewing room and thought this would be perfect. I spent more time assembling the second one as I had to sand the wood and stain it. I then painted the legs an off white color because I didn't want it to look like a garage workbench. I then purchased lined baskets to go on the second and third shelves to hold my sewing accessories such as scissors, threads, etc. The result: It is beautiful! I have had so many compliments on it. I highly recommend the purchase of this item. It just doesn't get any better than this.
worked great for my requirement December 26, 2008 Ted A. Hickman (arcanum, ohio usa) this leg set allowed me to fit the bench to the space in my woodworking shop. works great!
Awesome; works as advertised December 26, 2008 N. R. Achord (APO, AE United States) This product works great! It is easy to assemble, no complicated cuts or instructions. You simply buy the lumber you want and cut it to the size you want. This is the best part of this kit. You know it's going to fit because you measured it! You picked the wood too. The product is not misrepresented here at all; it states in the name that this is a "KIT". It also says many times in the details "lumber not included" or you buy the lumber and cut to fit. If your looking for a work bench to fit exactly where you want to use it, then look no further. The bench is very sturdy too, I have had no problems with the screws included with the kit. I store some pretty heavy stuff on the unit and the boards do not even bow a little, and I actually used longer lengths than the they said in the instructions.
Just as described, works great! December 24, 2008 Ralph Taliercio (Long Island, NY) These legs attach to the 2x4's that you supply easily to create a benchtop with two shelves. Top shelf is on the narrow side, but that is a very minor negative. If you cut your 2x4's accurately you'll wind up with a very solid benchtop. Hope this was helpful.
Very Strong Workbench November 30, 2008 Jeanny Collazo (Cutler Bay, FL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I built my workbench 6 x 2.5 FT. I used 1/2 plywood for the bottom shelf and 3/4 plywood for the middle and work surface. The result is a very strong workbench. Note that the vertical space between shelfs is small (bottom: 11 1/4", middle: 8 1/2") so I modified my workbench by doing the middle shelf halfway (see customer image). I used some galvanized brackets to support this modification. As a result I now have 23 3/4" of vertical clearance on one side of the workbench. This allows me to fit big items like a compressor. I had all the 2x4's and plywood cut at my local home depot which I highly recommend to ensure that the measurement are very exact. PRO: -Strength -Cost: Around $150 (wood, pegboard, and brackets) + kit -Easy to build -Usability CONS: -Legs do not have leveling feet so you must improvise to make it level if your garage or shop floor is not leveled
