| Customer Reviews: NO STARS - DO NOT BUY !!! January 15, 2009 Randy L. Ellis (colonial Bordentown NJ) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
After throwing out a brand new washer dryer from another company for it never working properly from day one, I continued my search for this type of "one drum" washer and dryer. The ASKO 1812 had a better "Warranty" than the other company models, but, well, here I am now, waiting for over 2 months for a part for this BRAND NEW UNIT that is currently on BACK ORDER somewhere in SWEDEN.
I have called and asked why and when will his part arrive so I can use this "modern miracle" appliance. Of course, everytime you call ASKO Customer Service, the person on the other end of the phone is so apologetic to you. "I'm soory you are having aproblem" All I want is this unit to work do I can again wash and dry my clothes inside my home !
I asked them if they would pay my laundry bills, as I have now reached $300 in quarters at the local laundramat doing my clothes down there. Of course they said NO, but can you imagine as a consumer how I feel that I have this brand new (and not CHEAP) washer - dryer unit not working for months, and with no answer when the correct replacement part will be shipped to America ?
Remember as a kid, growing up, Mom only had 1 washer and 1 dryer that lasted for DECADES ? This one, and I live alone and it only is used by one person's weekly clothes supply, worked properly for maybe a few months before the door handle got stuck shut and I had to wait a week for a repairman to open the door for me. Here's a funny one - When I reported the problem to ASKO to have them contact a reapir person, they asked me the serial number . I said "I can't tell you that because the serial number is INSIDE the door that is stuck shut !"
Do not buy, do not buy, do not buy. Do not buy, do not buy, do not buy. And definetily stay away from the other like this.
Run fast from Asko. WORST washer/dryer ever!!! November 1, 2009 Jeff in Tucson (Tucson, Arizona) I can only echo was the previous poster has said. We had the control board replaced twice, each time costing $150 for the repair man's time. Now, we don't use the dryer and actually bought a new one. This combo is an EPIC FAIL! The pump is now going, so we are buying another washer that is recommended by Consumer Reports.
