Try this before ordering a new battery September 10, 2006

Your Roomba may be experiencing an issue where the battery is deeply discharged and may need to charge longer than the standard 2.5 hours. (or 6 hours if you have a standard charger)
If you have fully charged your Battery (the Roomba Power light is solid green) and it charging time was short (less than 20 minutes) and its run time was short (less than 20 minutes) you will need to do the following.
Reset the Roomba charging system. Do this by removing the Battery and holding down the "power" button for at least 5 seconds. Then reinstall the Battery.
Plug the Charger into Roomba (avoid using the Home Base if you have one so as to ensure the Roomba's charging cycle is not interrupted.)
Charge the Battery until the Roomba Power light is solid green and keep the Roomba on the Charger for an additional 72 hours (3 days). Note: Do not interrupt this charging cycle.
In Max mode, run the Roomba for one complete cycle without a Home Base present, to deplete the battery. Keep track of the runtime and if it has improved, repeat steps 3 and 4 a few times. If your Roomba does not have Max mode, run several Clean cycles until Roomba stops and plays the "dead battery" song.

I wasn't quite sure why my generation 2(?) Roomba would just shut down right after starting, but I suspected the rechargable battery. This battery works almost twice as good as the original one. 49.99< 279.99.... You know a brand new Roomba!

I ordered this on Nov 9th. The advertisement said it would be available in 2-3 days. So 8 days later I check on my order. It turns out it is not available until Jan. 19th!!! I pointed this out to Amazon but they have still not updated the web site to reflect the long wait. They know it is not available but are still advertising "Availability: Usually ships within 2 to 3 days" I think this is maliciously misleading. Amazon knows it is a problem, they need to fix the advertisement now!!!

The APS 4905 I purchased worked for about two weeks. After that, nothing. The charger blinks continuously when this battery is placed in it, but the stead light that indicates that it's charged never comes on. (The recharger works fine with two other batteries.) We also have an older recharger that recharges the battery while it's in the Roomba. That doesn't work, either.
How can I return or exchange this?

The original was fine, but unimpressive, generally. My initial battery died pretty quickly, going from over an hour, to around 15 minutes, to under... anyway, after a few charges and discharges, this lasts considerably longer than the original.
It does what it's sold to do. Half the reviewers are rating Amazon's ability to ship the battery on time, somehow... mine arrived in 2 days (prime).
Good price, good product.
