Product Description Electric Knife Sharpener Easy Way To Sharpen Most Kitchen & Sport Knives To Razor Sharp Edge Professional 2 Stage System Precision Grids Perfect Sharpening Angle Then Fine Hones & Polishes The Edge Special Sapphirite Sharpening Wheels Are Made From Utra Hard Material Used In Professional Sharpening Shops No Guess Blade Guides Automatically Hold The Blade At Proper Sharpening Angle
Amazon.com Review All kitchen and sporting knives, whether professional quality or inexpensive, need a blade tune-up now and then. This electric sharpener produces razor-sharp edges using the same rapidly rotating Sapphirite grinding wheels used by professional shops. A two-stage system allows knives to be ground and sharpened on the Stage 1 half of the machine, and then honed on the Stage 2 half. Blade guides hold the knife at the ideal sharpening angle for each side of the blade, as it is drawn slowly towards the user and kept parallel to the countertop. The sharpener is suitable for knives made of alloy, carbon, or stainless steel; it is perfectly normal for sparks to fly when knives of high carbon steel come in contact with the Sapphirite wheels. Non-electric serrated knives that are only serrated on one side can also be sharpened with this machine. Three suction cups on the bottom hold the sharpener securely on a table or countertop, and two receptacles underneath catch metal filings for disposal. The sharpener measures 8-1/4 by 5-3/4 by 4 inches, and is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

Great Sharpening Device December 4, 2003 Arizona (Tucson, AZ USA) 104 out of 110 found this review helpful
I look at the gold box every day, and saw this sharpener on sale. I already own it...purchased it locally, not from Amazon, and it cost me more than the gold box price. It does an amazing job on sharpening knives. I have an older set of Chicago cutlery, and it sharpens them razor sharp whenever I use it.....which my wife says it not often enough!! I sharpened our knives the day before Thanksgiving, and the bird practically carved itself. It's also very easy to use, and has a foolproof design. I recommend it highly.
A wonderful product! December 25, 2004 Lee E. (Arkansas) 68 out of 68 found this review helpful
One night my husband spent three hours sharpening our Chicago Cutlery set by hand and afterwards said he wanted to find an electric sharpner. We started pricing them, but from what we saw they ranged from $80-$135. I went online and found the EverSharp and after reading the reviews purchased it and set it aside for XMas. I just have to say that it has lived up to expectations and then some. It's amazing how quick and effecient this sharpner is! In less than five minutes my husband had our Cutlery knives sharpened even better than they were when we originally got them. He then sharpened his mother's knives that have never had a good sharpening. I knew I had bought him a good product when after each sharpening he looked at the knife and whispered: "Oh my God!" Great results at a great price!
This worked where all the other sharpeners failed February 28, 2005 Jeff B. Cox (Atlanta, GA USA) 47 out of 47 found this review helpful
My son gave me a high quality chef's knife a year ago. I kept the knife sharp using a sharpening steel. I had never used a high quality knife before and the difference was remarkable. It was a real improvement over all the knives I had ever used. I really enjoyed using it. Then, after about 4 months, the knife suddenly got dull. No matter what I did I could not get it back to the way it was when it was new! I used 6 different sharpening gadgets including an oiled wet-stone, a powered work-shop knife sharpener, two traditional kitchen knife sharpeners and even a special diamond coated gadget from our local gourmet shop. They all got the knife sharp, as sharp as all my other knives, but it was no longer dramatically better than the cheap knives. Based on the 5 star reviews, I decided to give the Presto 08800 Pro EverSharp Electric Knife Sharpener a try. After carefully following the instructions, the knife was restored to it's like-new scary sharpness on the first sharpening. It has stayed sharp for 2 weeks with much use. We have since sharpened several other knives with similar high quality results. Don't do what I did, instead buy this sharpener first! It is a great tool! My advice is to carefully read the instructions and follow them. It worked for me.
Was skeptical... Now a believer! June 25, 2006 David Sands (Smyrna, GA United States) 36 out of 36 found this review helpful
I am a culinary student and sharp knives are not only convenient, they are essential to pass classes! Honestly, I am not the best with my whetstone, so I looked for an easier way to sharpen my equipment. I've always been taught that an electric sharpener is the worst thing you could ever use on quality cutlery, but the reviews for this thing were good. I took it to my mother's house to "experiment" with some of her knives that were just about ruined. I was shocked when they went from no edge at all to passable the first time through the machine. I was VERY shocked when they came out VERY sharp the second time through! After sharpening every knife in her house, I took it home and (gulp) tried it on mine... Fantastic! This gadget has saved me quite a bit of money because I used to get my equipment sharpened by a professional when they really needed it. For about the same cost as one pro-sharpening you can have this device. I have used it on my school equipment as well as my personal collection of Wusthof classics and not had a problem. However, I do prefer to steel them by hand after sharpening. If you use this device to hone a blade, it can leave a slight burr. I know some people prefer that, but I do not. Also, you need a steady hand to get the most out of the sharpener. You MUST read all directions and follow them to the letter. While not at all difficult, you cannot simply, "Stick in a knife, pull it out sharp." I have never written a review for a product, but this one has inspired me. Get one!

I just bought this sharpener. Works exactly as described. Did all my knives in no time. I even tried some serrated knives that got dull over the years...it worked. Here's how. Many serrated knives have one side that is flatter. Gently sharpen this side. I then take a 'steel' and slowly do the other side two or 3 times. Remember there many types of serrated knives. This technique might not work on all. Its worth a try if the knife is still 'useable'.
