Not all gold-trimmed fine bone china needs to be saved for formal occasions. Golden Pageantry is one of those comfortably elegant patterns that serves superbly for any sit-down dinner, whether a 50th wedding anniversary or Sunday brunch with the grandparents. The rim of each piece is trimmed with a significant 24-carat-gold band, next to which sets a soft sage-green band that displays a scrolling leaf design in butter yellow. A thin band of the same yellow completes the border, and raised yellow enamel beads add textural interest. An excellent starter set, this box contains four five-piece place settings, each consisting of a delicate footed teacup, 6-inch saucer, 6-3/4-inch bread plate, 8-5/8-inch salad plate, and 10-3/4-inch dinner plate. The teacup is especially eye-catching, featuring a wide butter-yellow band adorned with green leafy vines, yellow and red flowers, and raised yellow beading. Surprisingly strong given its translucent, delicate look, bone china resists chips and cracking and can be washed in the dishwasher.
