Essential for original Professional Hard-Anodized products July 15, 2001 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Much easier to use than a clumsy and not-as-effective potholder, and, like all Calphalon products, will last forever. It's essential for the original line of professional hard-anodized products with handles that are impossible to grasp once the pan has been heated (unless you wish to be permanently branded).
I guess you could call it 3 1/2 stars. July 15, 2004 Scott Pointon (Crest Hill, IL United States) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I own many Calphalon Commercial Hard Annodized pans. For the most part, the stay cool handles do indeed stay cool enough for me to not worry about the heat, especially in stove top situations. However, many recipes call for browning on the stove and then finishing up in the oven (these pans excell at this). The handles are HOT when they come out of the oven - thus I thought this pan handler would be just the thing. I was somewhat disappointed by the construction of this item. I thought it would be thick, like the quilted cloth ones you see on sizzling fajita pans in restaurants. This thing is THIN! It is fine for covering the handles of pans in use on the cooktop, but with Calphalon's cool-v handles this was not a problem anyway! Unfortunately I have found that when an already heavy pan that is loaded with food emerges from a 350 degree oven this pan handler is not enough to keep the heat of the handle from reaching your hand (ouch). I know it doesn't cost much but there has to be something better out there...
An absolute necessity ! February 5, 2003 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is an absolute necessity for Calphalon professional hard-anodized users! Protects the cook like no hot-pad could!
Fuss-free pan holder November 11, 2002 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Forget about the clumsy thick baking mitts and pot holders which do not allow for a good grip on the pan. This little piece of suede is perfect with cast iron pans with handles even though it is designed to be used with Calphalon pots and pans.
Easier to use than a pot holder December 7, 2004 Kathy B (NJ) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This thing is great! It slides right over the handle of a Calphalon pot/pan and it really keeps the heat out. Plus, it fits just right, so unlike a pot holder you don't have to worry about it slipping while you are holding a hot handle.
