boomwhacker review January 9, 2007 Tom Rubino 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was very dissapointed with the product, it was displayed as something that was simple to use and fun for all ages....I ordered 4 of them for my grandchildren and when they opened them for Christmas, we found that they were "clumsy" to use, the sound quality is poor at best, and they are made of hard plastic which is not particularly safe to be "whacking" on anything and everything as I was led to believe. We are a musical family and therefore more inclined to try to produce music from various sources, but I am afraid this is not worth the money. If I had opened them before Christmas I would have returned them, but it was too late so now they are stuck with them.
Decent toy January 9, 2007 jensen (Chicago, Illinois) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was not overly impressed with the quality of the Boomwhackers Boomophone Whack Pack. My children love it and use them in school, so it was not exactly money wasted. However, they are pretty much just pvc pipe cut into different lenghts to give off different tones when 'whacked'. I was especially disappointed in the low level of sound released when played. They are not very loud, which for some may be a positive. I would say it would be more properly priced at $15-$20, given the quality of the product.
Fun for one child or a group! February 12, 2007 Beth (RI) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought these for my music lover when he was 4 years old. He loved them so much that he wanted to take them to preschool to share with his friends. His teacher loved them so much she wanted to order some for the class. The kids had a blast playing with them all morning. My boys are now nearly 6 and 3 and these are always guaranteed fun when we play with them. I really like how each person can hold a tube and you can whack them on the floor to play songs together. Yeah, they are a plastic tube, but they are a fun plastic tube that teaches them about music and entertains them!
Great TOY! ...despite what I've read March 4, 2007 c.p. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm only writing this to say that my young children love these things and have a great time with them and that they are very child friendly. Before buying them, I had read in a few places that these are too difficult for children and are more appropriate for adults with musical experience. IT IS A TOY! If adults can do fun cool stuff with them, great, but they are made, sold and used as a toy. Why not a 5 star rating? No reason other than it's not their favorite toy. :)
A fun gift December 25, 2007 Heather Clark (Kansas City, MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this as an early birthday gift for my nephew who is nearly three years old. Overall I was pleased with the product (and so was he). Yes, they are plastic tubes; no, they are not very loud. And therein lies the charm of this product. The sound is enough to enjoy while playing, but not enough to drive someone in the next room crazy. And they are tuned! He used the rubber-tipped mallets to play a few songs for his adoring audience, then promptly removed the tubes from their case and began some really creative play. The bright rainbow coloring is very attractive (and in the same order as occurs in a real rainbow). While he did not care for the octivator cap, the rest of the family and I thought it was extremely cool and imparted a fuller (and of course deeper) tone. I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 because at age nearly three he is probably too young to get the full enjoyment out of this product right now, although this is certainly something he can grow with.
