Check out the Total Gym 1100, which helps you strengthen and sculpt every major muscle group in your body. Offering more than 60 different exercises, the Total Gym 1100 works by making you lift a percentage of your body weight against gravity, making the resistance smooth and fluid. Good buy for beginners September 22, 2006 Erik Manning (Houston, TX) 43 out of 46 found this review helpful
Yes, there are a few downsides to this system. It can take up a bit of floorspace, and it is a bit pricey. But... I had this system a few years ago and loved it. I had to sell it when I moved into a tiny apartment and needed all the space I could get. I recently repurchased the item again and don't regret it at all. There are so many exercises you can perform with this unit, and after two and a half weeks I'm already seeing results. This is a great product for beginners or for those who want an inexpensive home gym.
Good workout, however... May 26, 2007 J. Tellez (Carlsbad, CA United States) 36 out of 37 found this review helpful
...not very convenient. It's been advertised as being easy to fold up and store almost anywhere. Well, it's not that easy. It's quite heavy and awkward. It does provide a good workout, though. It's very diverse so you can work on almost any area. If you're looking for something like that, then I recommend the Total Gym, but don't expect it to be as simple as shown on television.
Great Equipment May 18, 2006 Barb (Pennsylvania) 22 out of 24 found this review helpful
I bought the Total Gym 4 years ago and love it. My husband and I both use it and it's so much better than any big bulky equipment and takes up very little space. You can target any area on your body you want, it does everything. Proves you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars or join a gym to get what you need.
I can't disagree with Chuck Norris. April 27, 2008 NapoleonOfTheNow (Burghill, OH) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I am not into exercise machines...at all. But this Total Gym 1100 is great for upper body exercises. It uses your body weight as resistense which makes it less than useful for improving leg strength since the legs(mine at least) are already used to lifting my own body weight. Full range of motion with your arms plus the resistence makes a GREAT workout. It is good for abs, kind of like a roman chair if you use it right. Great for muscles you normally don't use when you weight train. I will admit, it takes some creativity to come up with your own exercises to be most useful to you. Just use a little brains and get some muscles. I bought the Total Gym: number one, because Chuck Norris told me to; number two, it folds up and stores away easily; number three, it was cheap; number four, it leaves no need for all those weights in my room; number five, it streches muscles as it works others; number six, I recognized how useful it would be to my upper body strength. I say, listen to Chuck Norris, the only guy who does push-ups and is actually pushing the world down! The guy the buggie-man checks his closet for before going to bed! The guy who has a third fist behind his beard! The only guy who can roundhouse kick so fast his foot went back in time and destroyed Amelia Earhart's plane. The guy not on Mount Rushmore because the granite wasn't hard enough for his beard! - Buy one today.
Great Value, must understand limitations June 11, 2008 Tate (Columbus, OH) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
The Total Gym 1100 is a great value given its low price combined with the number of exercise you can perform. I rated it 4 starts, but 3.5 would be more accurate. Buying the more expensive models does not greatly increase what you can do; it just improves the quality and throws in a few accessories. You can get a pretty good upper body workout on this machine, but this in not the machine if you want to do a lot of work on your legs or abs. The construction and components are not high quality, but that should be expected when buying the base line model. Nothing has broken yet, but some of the padding is showing major signs of wear after only a few months. This is a great item to if you want a good (not great) workout at a very low price, just don't expect it to do everything. Pros: - Can perform most of the same exercise as more expensive models - Fairly easy to move and store away - Good upper body workout, especially shoulders - Great Value - Amazon Shipping was great Cons: - Not for developing muscle mass, nor is it great for lower body or core - Quality of machine/components is not very good (this should be expected for the price)
